Boy, I had a marathon last night and today.

Exit Wounds *sobs* That was a real tear jerker. I cried at Tosh's death and I feel vindicated with Owen through S2. He was so unlikeable in S1 but I knew he could end being the most interesting in some ways. Well, I DO like how they played Ianto as well though. Actually, I liked all three more than Gwen or Captain Jack. but yeah, the overacting is a problem and they didn't rein it in with Jack in this ep either. I wasn't impressed with Gray ... I wanted him to be more ... well, to LOOK like he had a reason for his vengeful headspace. He just came across as a very normal person. Not twisted by his suffering at all, so he didn't ring true for me. Not saying he had to be a "The Master" clone, but something other than the very suburban normal guy he acted and looked like would made the whole premise more believable for me.

Cloverfield kept my interest. The hand held was so all over the place of course, and that made me feel almost sea sick at the beginning! It eased off though and all up, I think the movement was pretty well choreographed really, although there were some parts where it was unbelievable that the guy would still be pointing the cam. I kind of wanted a coda to the story (although we got that in the beginning, I know, but I wanted more of an outside the story POV and any one of the characters to come out alive ... would have made me feel a little more satisified.

Partners in Crime. Hmmm, early days ... first ep and all ... but I'm beginning to wonder what it is with so many fat-related villains/aliens that the New Series seems obsessed with. I liked Catherine Tate and I'm quite happy that at least one of the companions seems bent on NOT falling in love with him. I like her prickliness on that subject. I haven't got her stereotyped in her comedienne role either (only looked up a few Youtube vids of her when I learned she would be in DW ages ago). I'm looking forward to more of her.

Across the Universe ~ Musical - but DON'T let that put you off. It's the piece de resistance of my 24 hrs of idiot-boxing. I revelled in this! If for nothing else, you should watch it for the soundtrack ~ brilliant! It's an interesting pastiche of British and American culture although most events take place in the States. I didn't much notice Jim Sturgess as George Boleyn in "The Other Boleyn Girl" but he really shone in this. Great pathos! And the whole film is quite trippy. A mad mix of young romance, heavy political stuff going down in '68, mixed in with a Yellow Submarine/Sgt. Pepper's zaniness, visuals-wise ~ all with Beatles' tracks, brilliantly chosen and performed. Perhaps the political stuff will resonate more for people who know the era, but the romance is timeless. Quirky, whimsical and weird visuals! If anyone is interested this torrent downloaded pretty quick for me (FXG is the new aXXo, I've been informed).

I cried when Tosh died too, I was not expecting her to die!

I also loved Dr Who and like you, I am glad that there wont be any romancing of him and Donna.

Yes, her death scene was very well done. The non-romance ... I hope they stick with it. Love your icon!
