I love this because

1. There's something sweetly pathetic in Dean's attempts to be SNAGgish.
2. Modality (verbs like could, would, might etc) haven't yet made it into his politeness strategies.
3. He hasn't quite worked out how to use anything other than an imperative with a woman!
4. The uncertain rising intonation on please is so looking for approval.

He tries so hard, but the fact that he's really quite arrested when it comes to the "sensitive guy niceties" is very endearing.
