liresius: (John ~ Even in the Quietest Moments)
[personal profile] liresius
I couldn't resist watching both ... Here is a zip on Megaupload of about 600 caps (350MB version) of Vegas. About eighty percent are of John, 15% of Rodney (or both together) and 5% of the Wraith and what not. There are a few thoughts below the cut, but I'm sure I'll have more to say in dribs and drabs later. I'm still mulling it all over...

Vegas ~ Oh wow, I felt ineffably sad at parallel John - it was quite an amazing ep. I loved it! John was a much more interesting character - sad, down at heel, and dissolute. I liked the fades to white (pure heart) and adored the Johnny Cash and Stones score. And Rodney was kinda cool with how edgy he was. Great rectitude - all Napolean Bonaparte with a good dash of ruthless M thrown in. I loved the contrast between these/this John and Rodney - their differences were thrown into a greater relief.

Enemy at the Gate ~ All a finale should be as far as tension, threat, and "Oh No's" go, but Rodney's last line -argh! *tears hair out* Why couldn't TPTB have just left well enough alone??? As to that rhetorical question ... well, John, of course is the "What else would I need?"! D'oh! It really brought down the whole sense of team at the last, and that REALLY disappoints (and btw, who was that girl with Ronon?) I just realised, I think it's the girl who does the "Incoming wormhole" gig on Atlantis.

Oh, and pah! Carson in the Chair - flying to Earth and engaging a wraith ship? Utterly risible, even though I do love Carson. And that Apollo 13 radio convo after waiting through the static, was just so obviously a rip, and a bit lame!
