I've been thinking for a while, I'd like to get a graphics tablet and try my hand at drawing - Berlinghoff's adorable mcshep and team stick figures first made me seriously think about it and bluespirit's mcpenguins have given me another push. Now, it's christmas and I could easily justify it as a Christmas present to myself! LOL! So might all knowing flist ... what do you recommend. Does everyone buy Wacom? Any other recommendations? Money isn't an object really - although I don't want to go broke over it. I don't want something too big either.

I've got an older Wacom tablet. It works great for me.

I've recently got my first tablet - it's a Wacom Bamboo pen & touch. It cost about £70 Sterling.
I've very pleased with it so far - though I have only drawn McShepguins! *g*

I was reading about the Bamboo one this morning - there are two apparently? Bamboo and Bamboo Fun. Either one of those was the way I was leaning as it seemed to be just the ticket.

Thanks for the info! *hugs*

I have a Tevion tablet which I got from Aldi (German cheap and cheerful mart here in the UK and Europe.) It has a better than A4 work area, the stylus is pressure sensitive and it has on board buttons (such as CTRL-Z) for those little oopsies, so you don't have to use the keyboard.
I've tried a Bamboo at a London Expo and it was very nice, but *not* worth the x10 price they wanted for it.So if you can find the brand I'd definitely recommend it just on price alone. All my artwork has been done on it, except for the pencil work, obviously!
Thank you for the snowflake! I've never had a V-gift before and today I got 3! Whee! Snowflakes! * * *

The one I have is very easy to use - plus there's a great video tutorial at the maker's website.

Ooh, thanks for all this detail. So, sounds like Wacom is top of the line with a price to match. I'll check out the Tevion too. Whatever I get I'll probably get it from outside Japan, as I don't want to deal with any software being in Japanese

You're welcome re the snowflake. It was fun being part of the flurry making!
