liresiusI'm all caught up, I think, on A to A and also watched the first ep of The No 1. LDA.

This is just amazing! I love it! It made me laugh and cry several times. The characters are all amazingly vivid and, I love Grace and Mma (if that's what I am supposed to call her). Grace is a perfect foil to Mma, all sharp modern edges to Mma's warmth and traditional ways. But Mma is still very strong for all her softness she can be very determined. I enjoyed that not all the cases went perfectly too, the complications enriched it all so much. I also loved the accents and variety of English made it very interesting to listen to. It's a lovely warm, funny and touching show ... I felt I was basking in that warmth and goodness.
I'm enjoying this too, but it's not the same without Sam. I think Alex is wonderful and it's fabulous acting and a great script, though. I just preferred the 1st season.
I love watching Gene struggle with his UST and having his fracas with Alex.
I was a bit diasppointed that Sam died the way he did. I thought he was pretty smart and wouldn't take off like that, make that mistake, and it was seven months later so not connected with his return that we saw, right? I'm kind of surprised that Sam had less of a long term impact on Gene's/CID's criminal methods, although that would have made it a lot less fun to watch *g*. I'm also not all that familiar with the 80s in the big wide world. I was living an itinerant fruit picker's life at the time and didn't take in a lot of music or pop culture, so the 80s don't resonate for me the way the 70s do.
I don't understand how Alex and her mother have become so close. They have a strange relationship because half the time they are at odds. I can't see a relationship like that developing the way it has between two people who met the way they did, get off on the wrong foot, or that the mother welcomes her to the house so casually. Also I think Evan is a villian. I don't know why, but I just get a bad feeling off him.
The off the shoulder tops Alex wears - I wish they'd put her in some other style more often. I didn't think that would have been approved wear for her status at the time. But still, I'm enjoying it!
