Kurt Vonnegut

Kurt Vonnegut has shuffled off this mortal coil.

... He was a formative influence for me, literature-wise. Yup! That lets ya'll know I'm a baby boomer! Tail end for sure, but I just snicked in there. I don't think it's too off topic to mention it since most of my flist is SF oriented, and time and space travel was an important device to get across the mental trauma in Slaugherhouse 5, not to mention some of his earlier pieces.

I just need to acknowledge this - no need to reply.

Now there is a name from my youth when I would read any SF book I could get my grubby paws on. I cannot recall any specific titles but I read quite a number of his books all those years ago. Now I'm feelign a little nostalgic and wonderign if I ought to pick up a familiar title and re-read one.

Yeah, I'm thinking the same. It wouldn't hurt to revisit some of his work. I'm a bit foggy on some of the ones I read. I don't think I ever DID finish Breakfast of Champions either! He was an amazing writer.
