Kid update
My son just called. It's Friday night in Perth and after finishing a dinner with friends from a previous job, he decided on the spur of the moment to catch the new train home. Whatddya know but it would have to break down. He said he saw a huge flash like an electrical short, and then the lights went. They came back on (well about 10% of them). He called me out of boredom and told me the tale. It's very hot and they had opened the doors so people could cool off. Two announcements while I was on the phone with him - warning people not to get off the train as the track was live. I hope they get alternative transport there for everyone soon. I know people can get horribly frustrated and impatient in hot cooped up conditions, and he said the train was crowded too.
