off topic ~ re World Cup

I've lost the day to World Cup! It only takes a small thing - ala ~ a game between Japan and Australia to distract me ... and me ... with a crucial assignment to write. Aagh!

The match was quite dramatic at the end ~ a "snatching victory from the jaws of defeat" scenario, but I am quite torn between being cynical about the hoopla (and all the controversy over the one Japan goal) and those base, nationalistic feelings that are evoked by such international sports spectacles! I'm quite disgusted by my lack of discipline - the fact that I like to deconstruct these things, yet have done nothing in that direction, but it has been oh so rivetting, nevertheless!! *g*
